KUALA LUMPUR:
The Marriage Encounter (ME) Weekend 187 was recently held at the Archdiocesan Pastoral Centre. Six couples from churches across the Klang Valley took part in this transformative experience which provided them with the opportunity to strengthen their relationships and deepen their connection.

The Worldwide Marriage Encounter Movement has enriched millions of marriages by teaching couples a simple, yet effective communication technique to explore key areas of their relationships. This method fosters love and understanding, allowing couples to deepen their bond.

The weekend event provided couples with the opportunity to focus solely on each other, free from daily distractions. By the end of the ME Weekend, many couples reported becoming better listeners and rediscovering the beauty of their relationship in a supportive, uninterrupted environment.
Here are some reflections shared by the couples who attended the weekend:

“The time we spent together in serene settings allowed us to reconnect. We engaged in heartfelt conversations, explored our feelings, and understood each other's perspectives in ways we hadn't before, reminding us of the reasons we fell in love in the first place. It was a weekend of emotional honesty, mutual support, and reaffirmation of our commitment to each other. We emerged from the experience with a renewed sense of intimacy and feelings toward each other.” Vijay and Caroline Reddy, Cathedral of St John the Evangelist, Kuala Lumpur

“Life’s daily routines had made us drift into autopilot mode and we realised we hadn’t taken the time to truly connect on a deeper level. The weekend gave us a safe and loving space to open our hearts, listen to each other without distractions, and express our feelings more honestly. This experience has rekindled a sense of closeness and appreciation in our relationship. We now make a conscious effort to communicate with more understanding and patience. It has been a beautiful reminder that love is a choice we make every day.” Clement and Susanna, Church of the Holy Family, Kajang

“It was a transformative experience for the both of us at the Marriage Encounter Weekend in which we were able to identify the core problems in our marriage. We also learnt to cultivate commitments by prioritising each other through open communication and fostering a foundation of trust and understanding. We know that we are truly compatible and love each other so much, and for us to rise in love again and again.” Benedict and Sylvia, Church of the Divine Mercy, Shah Alam

“We are so blessed to have attended the ME Weekend. Our love and passion for each other has been renewed, with God as the foundation of our relationship. Our love for each other is stronger and it is passed on to all those around us, especially to our son. We truly urge all couples wanting to renew and enhance their relationship to give the ME Weekend a chance to do just that. We are glad we said yes!” Benny and Adeline, Church of St Ignatius, Petaling Jaya

“We came to this weekend exhausted and disconnected. We are leaving renewed, refreshed and determined to continue the journey towards oneness. It has deeply impacted the quality of our marriage. We were so blessed!” Mark and Angeline, Church of Holy Family, Kajang
